Human-centered design requires a centered mindset on the consumer!
This week’s content byte focused on human-centered design. “Human-centered design is a creative approach to problem-solving one that starts with people and ends with innovative solutions tailored to meet their needs (IDEO.org, 2015)” I feel very connected particularly this week because for our final project we were tasked to think of ideas and my group and myself came up with a Costco parking device/app. We as consumers thought of some issues that many people have encountered and came up with a way to hopefully be beneficial to consumers and the environment. We were able to acknowledge an issue and then create a prototype which now can be sent to the community for testing phases to refine the prototype (Devex, 2016). The outcome of cutting waste mentioned in the Devex video would be exemplified in our project as it would use solar-powered panels to conserve energy and auto shut off to further benefit the users and environment (Devex, 2016).
The steps expressed in both videos reminded me of the process of creating a video game, particularly the video from IDEO. They mention the phases of creation: which is inspiration, ideation, and implementation (IDEO.org, 2015). For example, when creating a game, the first step is inspiration: Creating an idea for a game aimed at a group of people. Then comes ideation: we create the game as a prototype and test for bugs and refine the product. Lastly, we progress to implementation: where we send can create partnerships to get our product out to the masses. Human-centered design is important because there will always be ideas that may be created for a specific group, but in the end, can/will benefit others.

We tried different tools to ensure that this project would be practical for everybody, especially in our presentation. And I like that we communicate and we respect each other. We collaborate effectively and efficiently.
ReplyDeleteI think this concept of human center design is great because it lets others be involved in any project an add to an idea/inspiration and from then on it brings awesome results! Great way to use context.
